Workshop Bobbin lace – Rosa del Salento
Rosa del Salento is a pattern requiring a bobbin lace
technique exclusive to Salento, a small area in the South of
Puglia, the very "heel" of Italy, and probably
originated at the beginning of the past century.
The peculiarities of this technique are the large number of
bobbins employed, the almost total lack of knots and its
execution method: the bobbins move in and out of the flower
decorations according to the requirements of the pattern. The
ground consists of small plaits and spiders.

- Technique: Bobbin lace – Rosa del Salento
- Teacher: "Non Solo Fili..."
- Prerequisites: moderately difficult. A good basic
knowledge of bobbin lace making is essential.
- Objectives of the course: making of an insertion for a
small curtain.
- Material supplied: thread, short instruction manual,
patterns
- Material to be provided by the participant: bobbin
lace pillow, pillow support, pins, crochet hook no. 0.4, small
scissors, 60 pairs of bobbins (it is advisable to bring the
bobbins already wound with no. 50 cotton thread).
Workshops will be held in Pavilion 3 adjacent
to the exhibition, on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. - 6
p.m., on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Each workshop will last for altogether 12 hours. Following
subjects will be covered:
Participation fee for each workshop: €
240,00 (VAT included).
Minimum number of 10 participants, maximum 14.
The fee for each participant includes:
- 12 hours of tuition, working material, fabric, thread,
instruction manual, language assistance for non-Italian
speakers
- Admission ticket to the Forum
- It also entitles you to access to Bagarre, an event dedicated
to the world of antiques and collecting which will be held at the
Parma Fair at the same time as the Italia Invita Forum.
