Workshop Parma work
In Parma Embroidery, dating back to the 1920’s, the
inspiration for its patterns was drawn from the art treasures of
Parma and other towns in Emilia. The embroidery is done on thick
linen with a simple cotton thread. A number of stitches are used
(chain, stem, knots, buttonhole, filling stitches), but two of
these stitches are the distinctive elements of the technique:
chain and buttonhole stitches. This embroidery goes extremely
well with antique furniture and is used for making cushions,
blankets, panels, doilies.

- Technique: Parma work
- School: Circolo Culturale Reggio Ricama
- Prerequisites: moderately difficult, a knowledge of
embroidery is required.
- Objectives of the course: learning the stitches and
making a cushion.
- Material supplied: fabric, threads, needles, short
instruction manual and patterns.
- Material to be provided by the participant: thimble,
scissors, tacking thread, tape measure, pins, embroidery
frame.
Workshops will be held in Pavilion 3 adjacent
to the exhibition, on Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. - 6
p.m., on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Each workshop will last for altogether 12 hours. Following
subjects will be covered:
Participation fee for each workshop: €
240,00 (VAT included).
Minimum number of 10 participants, maximum 14.
The fee for each participant includes:
- 12 hours of tuition, working material, fabric, thread,
instruction manual, language assistance for non-Italian
speakers
- Admission ticket to the Forum
- It also entitles you to access to Bagarre, an event dedicated
to the world of antiques and collecting which will be held at the
Parma Fair at the same time as the Italia Invita Forum.
