The first edition
The first edition of the Forum was held at Bellaria near Rimini from the 9th to the 11th of May 2003 and had seen the participation of an international public coming from over 19 countries from both Europe and outside Europe.
Over 50 techniques of Italian lace and embroidery were presented encompassing the whole nation from Sicily to Piedmont.
On the 8
th and 9
th of May 14 pre-event workshops took place, 9 dedicated to lace and 5 to embroidery.
In the European Congress Centre at Bellaria, where the exhibition took place, were prepared: an area dedicated to
"shopping" with important Italian and foreign dealers, an area of
collections and an area dedicated to the exhibition
"a place at table". In the Panzini Room where the exhibition of
Italian techniques took place a pleasing initiative
"communicating with thread" had involved old and young, men and women, and in the background a jazz ensemble gave musical accompaniment to the proceedings.
Pictures and
comments on the 2003 edition of the Forum are collected in the pages that follow,
while the
cd-rom produced by Italia Invita is useful in learning the techniques
of lace and embroidery presented and to admire the works produced for the exhibition
"a place at table".
